⋄ Prunus besseyi The Western Sand Cherry and Charles E. Bessey: Historical Documentation
On Friday June 26, 2009, relatives of Charles Bessey, inducted that afternoon into the Nebraska Hall of Fame, helped to plant a number of Prunus besseyi (Western Sand Cherry) west of the Maxwell Arboretum Prairie.
Fittingly, the plants came from the Bessey Nursery at the sandhills town of Halsey, Nebraska.
