Flower: creamy white, three thick petals, blooms in racemes in April-May. Fragrant.
Leaves: palmately compund, 5 leaflets, bluish-green
Fruit: sausage-shaped, 4", dark purple, ripens Sept.-Oct., small back seeds in whitish pulp.

Zones: 4-8

Notes: For best fruit production, plant two different varieties or seedlings; some recommend hand pollination to ensure fruit set.
INVASIVE in the eastern U.S.

* UNL Landscape Services has no record of the cultivar name, but 'Shirobana' is by far the most widely planted white-flowering cultivar.
